Dubai. United Arab Emirates.

Hello Room 1. I have just been to the city of Dubai. It is in a country called United Arab Emirates. Dubai is a city built in the desert. Everything is BIG. A bit OTT in all areas....

This is the tallest building in the world. It is 828m tall. That is nearly 3 times taller than Auckland's Sky Tower. It has over 200 floors, you can see 95km's from the top and has 57 elevators. The elevator travels at 64km/hr and it takes only 2 minutes to get to the top. It is really fast!

It is hard to describe how tall it really is. When they were building it, Dubai ran out of money. The neighbouring city Abu Dhabi ended up paying for it. It is named Burj Khalifa after the man in Abu Dhabi who finished paying for it.

Here is a view from the top looking down. The tall buildings you can see are taller than the biggest ones in New Zealand. The buildings over the water are apartments. They look really small from up there.

Here are some more buildings looking from the top of Burj Khalifa. There is a lot of sand in Dubai. It is very hot there. On this day it was 49 degrees! But it can get very cold in winter.

Here I am in a shopping mall. Inside the mall is this huge aquarium. It is about 150m long. I walked through it - inside a big tunnel - with all sorts of fish swimming over the top of you. There were many different types of fish, including some big sharks, stingrays and lots of very colourful fish I had not seen before. An usual thing to have in a shopping mall...

Here I am in other shopping mall. This one has a big skating rink. Also in this Mall is a ski run for snow boarders and skiers. Also people making snowmen and playing in the snow. It is massive! And there are about 1000 shops as well....

Can you tell which fast food chain this is?

Because of the heat men wear white loose clothing like this. The clothes are called Kandura - often called Dishdash.

Here are some more men wearing the clothes men wear in this part of the world. They are always very clean and tidy. Most men have a close cropped beards.

And that is all for my Dubai adventure.
There are so many places I can go to. Where do you think I will pop up next?
